Kaufman Captures South Dakota Amateur Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - After a successful sophomore season on the links, Texas Tech women's golfer Kim Kaufman has continued that trend this summer as she recently claimed the South Dakota Women's Amateur Championship.
The win marked the second time Kaufman had captured her home state's Amateur Championship as she also won the event in 2009.
Kaufman, a Clark, S.D. native, closed the tournament with an impressive lead, finishing nine strokes ahead of the rest of the field following three-straight rounds all in the 60s. She fired a 67 opening round and followed with a 66 the next day before closing the tournament with a 68 final round.
The junior-to-be will return to the links Tuesday morning when she opens the Minnesota State Open at Hastings Country Club in Hastings, Minn.
