The Texas Tech football team completed a light two-hour practice on Friday morning in preparation for the teams' third scrimmage of fall camp.
The scrimmage will be held at Jones AT&T Stadium at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and head coach Tommy Tuberville said it marks a paramount step in fall camp for his squad.
"We've got to have a good scrimmage tomorrow," Tuberville said. "After tomorrow, we will pretty much start separating who is going to be in and who is going to be out for the first game. It's a pretty important scrimmage."
Exclusive access to the scrimmage will be provided for football season ticket holders. Season-ticket holders are asked to enter the Jones AT&T Stadium through Gate 6, and seating will be open on the east side of the stadium.
Gates will open at 9:30 a.m.
Tuberville said the coaching staff is aiming to run around 180 plays during the scrimmage. Last Saturday, the squad completed 184 plays in their first scrimmage of fall camp. Plays will be divided between each of the four quarterbacks, and between each of the three units. Tuberville said he is attempting to give 60 plays to each the first, second and third team units.
As they have in the previous scrimmages, an officiating crew will be present.
Tuberville hopes the format will allow the coaching staff to evaluate the progress the Red Raiders have made throughout camp, and heading into the season-opener.
"We will scrutinize every communication call, linemen steps and we will go from top to bottom," Tuberville said. "We will have another scrimmage, but it wont determine any part of who will be playing."
Following the scrimmage, the athletic department will host Red Raider Fan Day at the United Spirit Arena. The event is scheduled from 2-4 p.m.
