Athletics Communications (AC): What is the excitement level around the team as game-week approaches?
D.J. Johnson (DJ): Oh we are excited. Everyday we get a little bit more excited. It's a little bit draining during practices and fall camp, but we have had a little break and we are getting it back together. We are on a roll right now and it's feeling pretty good.
AC: So what exactly has caused you guys to get `on a roll' the past few weeks?
DJ: Really, it's just a team effort. Our linebackers have made a lot of plays. Our defensive line is doing phenomenal right now. They are making a lot of plays and causing a lot of havoc--especially Terrance Bullitt coming off the edge. He is putting a lot of pressure, and coach is making great calls. Just as a whole we are really getting on a roll. If one group is not on a roll, another group is on a roll, which then leads to another group getting on a roll. All together we are just doing really well.
AC: Who has stepped up and taken on a leadership role with this defense?
DJ: [Donald] Lagnley. Langley is just really vocal right now, but we have a lot of people who lead by example. Coach [Chad] Glasgow loves the guys that can go out there and talk and be very vocal. With that being the case, Langley is doing that right now.

DJ: They have helped us out a lot because we have got to see things at full speed, and then on top of that we got to have referees out there giving up calls and letting us know what we are doing wrong, and what we are doing right. Then going out there and watching film, watching ourselves as a whole defense going against the whole offense.
AC: How is the second half of training camp different from the first half?
DJ: Everything is slower. When you see routes develop, you see them develop a lot slower and you are able to play them a lot faster. You are able to notice a lot more things during this back half of camp.
AC: How has coach Chad Glasgow helped this defense since he arrived?
DJ: Oh he is great. All of the plays he calls, he is setting you up for perfection. It's just a matter of us going out and doing the right thing. He is putting us in a great position with the play calls that he is making.
AC: Does it feel as if everyone has bought into the system now?
DJ: Everyone has bought in. The defensive line loves it, the linebackers are loving it, the secondary is loving it. As a team we are all loving it. We are actually becoming more of a family.
