"Meet The Two-Deep" is an exclusive daily feature at texastech.com designed to allow Red Raider Nation to connect with this year's football team. The players in this feature made the official "two-deep" following spring practices, which means they will be competing for a starting spot when Texas Tech opens the 2011 football season at home against Texas State on Sept. 3. Check-in each morning at 10 a.m. (CT) on texastech.com and get to know a different member of your Red Raider football team.

What goes through your mind when running onto the field with the team on a gameday?
"It's quite a rush. You got 40,000-50,000 guys just screaming all around you and stuff and you are with the guys that you have trained so hard with in the spring and summer. It is just a really good feeling to know that after all the hard work you can really put it together and go out for one purpose, and that is to get a victory."
What is your favorite thing about being a Red Raider?
"I really think it is the fans. I think we have the best fans in the nation. Whether it is the tortilla tosses and they are hazing the other team or something. It is really fun to have them at our back and they really give us a boost. Especially at home here in the Jones."
Is there a motto or a phrase you live by?
"I have never really had a single motto but I just try to go out there and work hard, as hard as I can everyday and just really push myself to be a leader and keep the others around me going."
What is your personal goal for this season?
"Personally, for our team I want to win the Big 12 Championship and I want to be on the All-Big 12 team as a tight end. I think those two are definitely attainable."
Do you have any hidden talents?
"I can play the guitar a little bit but other than that I don't have any really special talents."
Who are some of the major influences in your life, both on and off the field?
"Off the field I definitely have to say my parents. My dad put me in football when I was seven and my mom and dad have always pushed me to play. It has really been my choice and they have just been there and been very, very supportive. When I got here one person that really eased the transition from Rutgers to here was Adam James. Me and him have become as close as it gets. He is in my workout group and we push each other every day just to be the best tight end that we can be. I think it has done wonders for both of our careers here at Tech."
What has been the biggest difference for you personally from your first year at Tech to where you are now in your career?
"Last year was a transition year. I redshirted last year and that was tough. Coming from Rutgers I played as a freshman and then having to go through those workouts every day, that was tough. Seeing the guys out there playing, you want to be a part of that. This spring was definitely a confidence booster, especially playing a lot. The summer has been really, really good in terms of getting on the field and really getting into the system even better and feeling more comfortable with it."
Give your personal message to Red Raider Nation.
"Hey fans get ready because we are about to win the Big 12 Championship!"
