Texas A&M Chosen As 2011 Black Out Game

By the thousands, Texas Tech fans have spoken.
An online and social media campaign, launched by Texas Tech last month, has revealed that Red Raider fans wish to greet arch rival Texas A&M with a sea of black.
Texas Tech's Oct. 8 matchup against Texas A&M will be the official Black Out game for the 2011 football season and fans can begin making their preparations now.
The athletics department is not endorsing any "t-shirt" as the official blackout shirt for the game and is encouraging licensed vendors and retailers to come up with their own unique designs. Red Raider fans will have the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of creative blackout t-shirts, including a design from Under Armour, the Official Outfitter of Texas Tech Athletics.
In addition to the Black Out, fans are also reminded that `Raider Power Fridays' officially kick off Sept. 2 with College Colors Day, a national movement in conjunction with the kickoff of the college football season. College Colors Day promotes higher education and celebrates the achievements, spirit and traditions of colleges and universities.
Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt encourages all fans to wear Red and Black every Friday during the 2011-12 athletics season to show Texas Tech pride and spirit. Fans can showcase their spirit each Friday by submitting pictures to the athletics department through facebook (www.facebook.com/ttuathletics) and twitter (using the hashtag #raiderpowerfriday).
As is customary, fans are encouraged to wear RED to the remaining home games against Texas State, Nevada, Iowa State, Kansas State and Oklahoma State.
Official Texas Tech merchandise can be purchased at the Double T Zone, the official store of Texas Tech Athletics, located on the east side of Jones AT&T Stadium. The Double T Zone is under new management and is currently stocking new merchandise. The store is located at 2508 6th Street, Suite 131, on the north side of the East Side Stadium building. Parking is accessible off either University Avenue or the Marsha Sharp Freeway access road. Hours of operation are Monday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
