The 2011 Texas Tech Football season officially began on Friday afternoon as 103 players arrived at the Football Training Facility to register for fall training camp.

The Red Raiders registered between 2-4 p.m. and will participate in team meetings for the remainder of the evening. The first official practice is set for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon on the practice fields adjacent to the Football Training Facility. All practices are closed to the public.

Practice is being held for the late afternoon due to Texas Tech Commencement exercises that are scheduled on Saturday morning. Six Red Raiders will receive their degrees on Saturday morning, including Donnie Carona, Aaron Crawford, Lonnie Edwards, Tyrone Sonier, Alex Torres and Jesse Smitherman.
