The Big 12 announced its preseason baseball coaches' poll today

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team was picked seventh in the Big 12 Conference Preseason Coaches' poll, the conference office announced Tuesday. Texas A&M, the co-conference champion last season, was picked to win the league with eight of the nine first-place votes along with 64 points overall.
League head coaches were not allowed to vote on their respective teams.
Texas Tech finished in seventh place a year ago with a 33-25 overall record and 12-15 record in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders' 33 victories marked their most wins in a season since 2005. The Red Raiders were predicted to finish in seventh place a year ago in the league's preseason coaches' poll.
Texas, who was co-conference champs with the Aggies last season, was picked second with the only other first-place vote and with 56 points. Oklahoma (48 points) and Baylor (42 points) were chosen third and fourth-place, respectively.
The next three teams were separated by only three points as Missouri (30 points) was picked fifth and Oklahoma State (28 points) narrowly ranked above the Red Raiders for sixth place. Texas Tech received 27 points in the preseason poll.
Both Kansas schools rounded out the poll as Kansas State (20 points) was picked eighth and Kansas received nine points for ninth place.
Texas Tech opens its 2012 season hosting the Red Raider Classic, Feb. 17-19, at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. The Red Raiders will take on Missouri State and Tennessee Tech. The Red Raiders will face Missouri State on Opening Day on Friday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m.
