Lady Raider Tennis Picked Third in Big 12

LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 32 Texas Tech received 61 points in the Big 12 Conference Preseason Poll for women's tennis, tying the Lady Raiders for third with Texas A&M.
It is the highest preseason ranking for Texas Tech in school history. The Lady Raiders finished last season tied for fourth in the Big 12, which is the highest finish in conference play since 2006 when the team also finished fourth.
Baylor earned the top spot with nine first place votes and 81 total points. Texas was second, earning one first place vote and 73 points.
Oklahoma was fifth, while Kansas State and Oklahoma State tied for sixth. Missouri, Kansas and Iowa State round out the poll.
The Lady Raiders are 8-2 on the season and have gone 6-2 against ranked opponents in 2012.
Texas Tech hosts No. 8 Baylor on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
