Sordet Paces Texas Tech On Day One In Phoenix

Clement Sordet fired a 66 in the first round and a 69 in the second and sits 5-under par while the Red Raiders stand in sixth as a team after the first two rounds of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Texas Tech is just 11 strokes behind tournament co-leaders San Diego and Kansas State and can make a push for the lead with a strong final round on Sunday. As a team, the Red Raiders fired a 275 in the first round but slipped to a 281 in round two.
Sordet (5-under, 135) is currently in seventh place overall and just seven strokes behind tournament leader Mike Wuertz of Colorado State. Matias Dominguez is the only other Red Raider in the top 50 as he ended the day 1-under, 139 and stands in an 11-way tie for 29th.
San Diego and Kansas State are tied for the tournament lead at 15-under 5454 while Colorado State stands in second at 13-under, 547.
