LUBBOCK, Texas - Gabby Dominguez became the second Texas Tech women's golfer to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship Monday after her 1-under 71 was good enough to advance from the Arlington sectional being held at the Waterchase Golf Course.
The junior's 71 round positioned her to tie for medalist honors. Dominguez will be making her first career appearance at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship when she and teammate Kim Kaufman tee off the four-round tournament June 18-23 at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J.
This marks the second time in the past week Dominguez has advanced to one of the nation's top tournaments as she qualified for the U.S. Women's Open last Thursday, less than a week after finishing tied for eighth at the NCAA Championships with Kaufman. The finish helped earn the pair honorable mention All-America honors.
Dominguez is one of several Lady Raiders who will be competing over the summer months as most of Tech's roster is set to play in the country's top amateur tournaments.
