LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golfer Beverly Mendoza missed the cut Tuesday at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship after a 4-over 76 second round left her five strokes from advancing to match play.
Mendoza finished 10-over for the tournament following a 6-over card during Monday's opening round. She wrapped the two qualifying rounds of stroke play tied for 89th in the 155-player field.
For the second-straight day, the Philippines native struggled on The Country Club's back nine as the junior quickly totaled three bogeys after opening the day from the 10th hole. Her lone birdie on the round came on the par-5 8th, the same hole she birdied the day before.
The top 64 players advanced to the match play portion of the tournament which will begin Wednesday and run until Sunday. Kim Hyo-Joo shot the lowest two-round score with an 8-under 136 that was one of only 16 cards under par.
