TEXAS TECH OPENS BIG 12 PLAY WITH SERIES AT TEXAS
Texas Tech opens its 17th season in the Big 12 Conference this weekend with a road trip to Austin, Texas for a three-game series with the Texas Longhorns at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. It marks the fourth straight season the Red Raiders have started Big 12 play on the road while Tech looks for its first conference-opening series win since 2011 when it took 2-of-3 from Baylor in Waco. Tech is looking for its first series win in Austin since 2001. The Red Raiders have won five of their last six and seven of their last nine games overall after sweeping a two-game midweek series against Utah Valley in Lubbock. Tech is 2-3 on the road and 2-5 overall when playing away from home this season. The Longhorns enter conference play on a five-game win streak which came off the heels of a four-game losing skid. Texas is 11-5 overall and 11-2 at home this season.
