LUBBOCK, Texas - Former Texas Tech great Omo Osaghae won gold Sunday at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.
Osaghae, running unattached, crossed the finish line with a time of 7.62 to become the second Texas Tech product to win an indoor U.S. Championship in as many years. Former Red Raider sprinter Gil Roberts won gold in 2012 running unattached in the 400-meter dash.
A five-time All-American at Texas Tech, Osaghae finished first overall in the preliminaries with a time of 7.59.
The performance came one year after Osaghae finished fourth at the 2012 U.S. Indoor Championships in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.54.
Osaghae was the 2009 NCAA Indoor Runner-Up in the 60-meter hurdles and 2009 Big 12 Champion in the 110-hurdles.
