LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech sophomore forward Janine Beckie was named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-America Second Team Thursday morning.
Beckie, a 2012 NSCAA All-America Second Team selection, enters the 2013 season as the top returning forward for a Red Raider squad picked second in the preseason All-Big 12 poll. She paced the Big 12, and was third nationally among freshmen, with 14 goals during a breakout rookie campaign last fall.
The Highlands Ranch, Colo. native was tabbed by the same publication as the Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and was named last week a Preseason All-Big 12 forward.
In May, Beckie was named among the top-10 returning forwards in the country by Top Drawer Soccer.
The No. 24 Red Raiders open the 2013 campaign Aug. 23 at New Mexico with the home opener slated for Aug 25 against Colorado State. Tech will play one preseason match scheduled for Saturday at No. 25 Denver.
