LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Athletics is encouraging fans to wear scarlet and black on Aug. 30 in support of College Colors Day, the second-annual national contest that rewards the school with the most college spirit.
College Colors Day is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite college or university apparel throughout the day on August 30.
Leading up to Aug. 30, fans can register to vote for Texas Tech as the school with most college spirit by visiting College Colors Day's Facebook page. After placing a vote, fans will have the opportunity to win prizes and discounts through an instant win game, view and submit photos to the College Colors Day fan photo gallery, and download a custom Facebook cover photo promoting Texas Tech for College Colors Day.
"We want to encourage all students, alumni, staff, and fans to show their support for Raider Red by voting for Texas Tech as the institution with the most school spirit," said Elvis Moya, Director of Promotions and Fan Engagement. "With colleges and universities across the country vying for this top award, it is important that our fans visit Facebook to vote for our university"
The Facebook-based rivalry competition, which includes more than 160 participating colleges and universities and is an element of this year's 2013 College Colors Day celebration runs through 11:59 p.m. EST on Thurs., Aug. 29. Fans can vote once each day and can check who is winning the competition nationally and within each conference. The winner will be announced on College Colors Day.
The national spirit competition is presented by The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), a division of IMG College, and NCAA Football.
