LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer program had three student-athletes honored Thursday on the Capital One Academic All-District teams that are presented annually by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Jaelene Hinkle led Tech's trio of recipients as she was a first team honoree. She was joined by second team selections Alli Murphy and Maddy Crabtree, who like Hinkle, were honored by CoSIDA for the first time in their respective careers.
Hinkle, a senior human sciences major, will now be eligible for consideration to the Capital One Academic All-America teams that will be announced in the coming weeks. If selected, Hinkle would be the third soccer student-athlete in program history to be named an Academic All-American, joining Jennifer Wood (1996) and Hayley Haagsma (2013).
Murphy, a junior majoring in civil engineering, and Crabtree, a sophomore human sciences major, joined Hinkle as three of seven Big 12 athletes named to either the first or second team. Tech led all conference schools with three total selections.
The all-district teams are determined based off a vote by CoSIDA members. Student-athletes must have a composite grade-point of 3.30 to be eligible.
