Red Raiders to Face Texas in Big 12 Quarterfinals

The Red Raiders will face Texas on Wednesday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Championships. Texas Tech wrapped the regular season in fourth place in the conference standings.

Kickoff for Wednesday afternoon's match is slated for 2 p.m. with online streaming coverage provided by the Big 12 Digital Network.
This will be only the second time in school history the two in-state rivals have squared off at the Big 12 Championship as Texas defeated Tech, 1-0, during the quarterfinal round of the 2011 tournament. Tech and Texas were also the No. 4 and 5 seeds that year as well.
The Longhorns previously defeated the Red Raiders, 1-0, in overtime earlier this year in the conference opener for both squads. Jasmine Hart scored the match's lone goal in the 97th minute for the Longhorns in only their second victory over Tech since the 2009 season.
Texas ended the regular season 10-7-2 overall and 4-4-0 in conference play after falling to Oklahoma State, 2-1, this evening off a goal in the final minutes. The Cowgirls scored the game-winning goal with just 1:33 left in regular to score the win in Austin.
The Red Raiders, meanwhile, will enter the tournament riding a four-match winning streak after closing the regular season 14-3-1 overall and 4-3-1 in league action with its 6-1 win this past Sunday over Iowa State.
West Virginia claimed the Big 12 regular season title for the third-consecutive season as the Mountaineers finished 7-0-1 in league play. Oklahoma State and Kansas finished just ahead of Tech in the conference standings in second and third place while Oklahoma, Baylor and TCU rounded out the final three spots in the tournament field.
Tickets for the Big 12 Championship are now on sale through Big12Sports.com. The Big 12 Digital Network will provide coverage of each quarterfinal and semifinal match with Lincoln Rose calling the action. Sunday's title match will be seen live nationally on FOX Sports 1.
