Behind the Scenes: Big 12 Women's Basketball Campus Tour

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Big 12 Sports Network made their first stop in West Texas on Tuesday for the 2014 Women's Basketball Campus Tour.
The Big 12 Conference office staff hit the road for the second-consecutive year for the Big 12 Women's Basketball Campus Tour, which has replaced the traditional media day for the sport. It allows the conference office to normally spend close to a full day at all 10 campuses as part of the countdown to tip off in November.
"It's getting out and visiting the campuses and it's not just basketball interviews but some social media stuff as well," Big12Sports.com's Wendell Barnhouse said. "So it's a lot of fun to get some more personality stuff with the players and coaches."
During the month of October each women's basketball program will be visited for a variety of interviews with head coaches and select student-athletes as they prepare for the 2014-15 season.
Fans can follow the Campus Tour on the Conference's social media platforms for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and by using hashtag #Big12WBBTour. Additionally, women's basketball previews will be posted on Big12Sports.com in November leading up to the first day of the regular season on November 14.
Barnhouse and his team with Joni Lehmann and Jason Angoy, sat down for interviews with Tech head coach Candi Whitaker, Amber Battle, Minta Spears and Kelsi Baker. They even got the chance to experience the new Performance Fueling Center for student athletes and taste the food for themselves.
"It had a really good spread but I didn't see any dessert," Barnhouse said with a smile. "I can see why the student athletes are pretty pumped about that because it's a good variety and you can come in and choose what you want. But the sirloin steak I had was top notch!"
