LUBBOCK, Texas -- There are two outstanding members of the Red Raider football program, who are not players themselves, but are charged with keeping the players healthy and dedicating their medical knowledge and ability to Texas Tech football.
Since 2006, Dr. Kevin Crawford, a proud Lubbock native, has worked tirelessly to oversee the orthopedic needs of our student-athletes. A graduate of UT Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, Dr. Crawford is a senior partner at Lubbock Sports Medicine. In 2012, Dr. Crawford was named the medical director and head team orthopedic physician for all of Texas Tech Athletics.
Serving as the team physician since 2007, Dr. Michael Phy has a special understanding of what it takes to be a collegiate athlete. During his undergraduate years, Dr. Phy played wide receiver at the University of Dartmouth. Dr. Phy went on to receive his medical degree from the University of North Texas, and now serves as the division chief of general internal medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine.
Texas Tech would like to thank Dr. Crawford and Dr. Phy for their contributions to our fearless champions.
