LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's basketball team returns to United Spirit Arena one last time on Saturday for its final home game of the 2014 season to take on Texas at 2 p.m.
The Lady Raiders will also celebrate at the end of the game the two college careers for seniors Shauntal Nobles and Haley Schneider.
"When I first got here, everybody always told me it was going to go by really fast," Nobles said. "I never thought it would but it definitely did go by fast and it kind of snuck up on me. But I'm really excited."
Nobles comes into her final home game with 527 points, 536 rebounds, a 44 percent field goal percentage and 53 blocks in 117 games played with 48 starts. Nobles was a four-time Academic All- Big 12 selection and graduated with a degree in business administration and is working on her MBA.
Schneider comes into her final home game with 101 points, 85 rebounds, a 35.8 field goal percentage and 54 blocks in 60 games played with three starts. Schneider was selected to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team this season and graduated in December with a civil engineering degree. She is currently working on her master's.
Both Nobles and Schneider look to send each other out on the perfect note for senior day - with a win over their rival Longhorns and snag their first Big 12 Conference win of the season.
Tech (6-21, 0-16 Big 12) nearly completed the that task on Sunday against No. 12 Oklahoma State but fell just short in a 63-62 game before slipping against No. 10 West Virginia on Wednesday in Morgantown, W.Va.
Texas (18-10, 9-7) had lost three consecutive games before beating TCU, 62-50, on Tuesday in Austin. The Longhorns won the first meeting this season against Tech on Feb. 5 but has only won twice in Lubbock since 2004.
More than anything, both seniors agreed that winning one more game in the USA would not be just special for them, but for the fans that have supported them so much over the last few years.
"I'm so thankful for our fans," Schneider said. "They're just the greatest people. They're kind, genuine, happy and just the most caring people you could ever hope to be around. To get one more win for them would just be perfect."
