NO. 25 TECH OPENS MIDWEEK SERIES WITH SFA TUESDAY
No. 25 Texas Tech (16-5, 1-2 Big 12) returns home for a two-game midweek non-conference series against Stephen F. Austin, Mar. 18-19, with the series opener set for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. Tech has won eight of its last 10 games and won 13-of-14 home games this season. The Red Raiders and Lumberjacks will be meeting for the second and third time this season after Tech came away with a 5-4 win during its first road game of the season at SFA, Feb. 27, at Jaycees Field. Tech starts the Big 12 portion of its schedule with three of its first four series on the road and will continue Big 12 play this weekend at TCU, Mar. 21-23, with Sunday's game televised on FOX Sports Southwest Plus. The Red Raiders opened Big 12 play last weekend taking 1-of-3 games at Baylor. The Tech pitching staff held Baylor to just four runs - tying a school record for fewest runs allowed in a Big 12 series. Tech looks to continue two impressive winning streaks having won nine straight home midweek games and with a 13-game winning streak at home. Tech has seven remaining home games in the month of March, four of which are midweek non-conference games. SFA is 8-9 this season and 4-6 away from home (3-5 true road games). The `Jacks have lost four of their last five games, including dropping 2-of-3 last weekend hosting McNeese State during its Southland Conference opening series. SFA's last midweek game was against Tech on Feb. 27.
