RED RAIDERS FACE NEW MEXICO AND TCU IN MIDWEEK
No. 24 Texas Tech (32-11) hits the road for a pair of midweek games away from home starting Monday, Apr. 21 at New Mexico (30-11-1) for a 3 p.m. CT first pitch at Lobo Field. Both teams enter with an eight-game winning streak, which is among the top five in the nation. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Johnathon Tripp (0-1) makes his third start of the season at New Mexico. Tech will then travel to Abilene for a neutral site, non-conference matchup with Big 12 foe TCU (26-13) on Tuesday, Apr. 22 with a 6 p.m. first pitch at Cruther Scott Field - home of Abilene Christian University. It marks the first time Tech has played a conference opponent in non-conference play since 1996 - when the Red Raiders faced Texas and TCU in Houston at the Southwest Conference First Pitch. The Red Raiders are 7-7 this season in games away from home with a 5-5 record in true road games and a 2-2 record on a neutral field. Tech is coming off its second straight series sweep, taking three games from Prairie View A&M in Lubbock last weekend. These two contests mark just the third and fourth midweek games for Tech away from home this season. New Mexico has won eight straight games and 11 of its last 12 overall. New Mexico is 17-5-1 at home this season and has won seven of its last eight home games.
