NO. 30 TECH OPENS EIGHT-GAME HOMESTAND TUESDAY
No. 30 Texas Tech (23-9, 4-5 Big 12) returns to Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park for an eight-game homestand (Apr. 8-19) that begins Tuesday, Apr. 8, hosting Abilene Christian (12-16, 2-4 Southland) for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at Rip Griffin Park. Tech has 21 remaining regular season games - 14 of which will be played at home where the Red Raiders are 17-4 this season. Tech posted a 2-2 record last week - all games played away from home - with a midweek, neutral site win over New Mexico , 6-3, at Security Bank Ballpark in Midland. Tech then played its third Big 12 road series of the season last weekend at No. 20 Oklahoma State, where it took 1-of-3 games from the Cowboys with a game two 16-6 victory in Stillwater. Later this week the Red Raiders will host Kansas State (Apr. 11-13) for a three-game Big 12 series at Rip Griffin Park. Game three of the series is set for a FOX College Sports television broadcast with first pitch set for 1:07 p.m. The series opens on Friday with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch and game two following on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Red Raiders middle game of the weekend series will follow the annual Tech Spring Football Game, which is set for 11 a.m. at Jones AT&T Stadium. ACU suffered its first three-game series sweep of the season, and it came in Southland Conference action while hosting Lamar, 4-6, 4-6 and 7-16. The Wildcats are 2-6 on the road this season.
