NO. 23 TECH HOSTS WVU FOR FINAL HOME SERIES
No. 23 Texas Tech (37-16, 11-10 Big 12) completes its regular season hosting West Virginia (27-21, 9-11 Big 12) as the Mountaineers make their first-ever trip to Lubbock, Thursday through Saturday (May 15-17) at Rip Griffin Park. The Red Raiders enter their final games of the regular season after taking eight days off from competition taking spring semester final exams. Tech's last game was its last midweek game and its last game on the road during the regular season with a dominating 18-3 win over Dallas Baptist Tuesday, May 6 in Dallas. Tech tries to improve its already impressive season résumé with three additional games against a top-30 RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) opponent. Entering the weekend Tech is 8-8 vs. top-25 RPI, 12-11 vs. top-50 RPI and 23-13 vs. top-100 RPI. In addition, Tech has won 37 games which is its most since the 2004 season (40). West Virginia has been no stranger to the road this season having played just 15 home games (11-4) and played 33 games (16-17) away from home this season, including a 12-15 road record. Taking a look at WVU's recent road swing, WVU played a three-game series in Lawrence (May 9-11), traveled to Maryland (May 13) for a midweek game, headed to Lubbock for series with Tech (May 15-17) and will then travel to Oklahoma City for the Big 12 Championship (May 21-25).
