Kliff Kingsbury concluded the first day of Big 12 Media Days with 15 minutes at the podium Monday in front of the national print media. The interview, which will be on Texas Tech TV later this afternoon, aired live on FOX Sports Southwest.
Kingsbury spoke about numerous subjects during the session, ranging from Texas Tech's momentum following its Holiday Bowl victory a year ago to the maturity of sophomore quarterback Davis Webb. He also hit on topics like the strength of the Big 12 and the Red Raider defense.
The press conference was a much-easier feel for Kingsbury, who pointed out that entering year No. 2 was a more comfortable feeling for him and his staff.
"I think year two for our entire staff, our entire program, there's a comfort level," Kingsbury said. "And having a guy who is an established leader (Davis Webb) and an established player at quarterback position in our system really helps and has helped the entire off-season. So we're excited about him. We're excited about our team, and we'll see how it shakes out."
Another popular subject throughout the day has been Kenny Williams and his switch to the defensive side of the ball. Kingsbury said during the press conference that Williams will play primarily on defense but still be used in certain situations on offense and special teams.
"Kenny asked if he could do it," Kingsbury said. "He saw there was a need. He's a very selfless player, team player, and he wanted to do it. So we were for it. He's one of our best football players on our team and we wanted to find a way to get him on the field as much as possible."
The Red Raiders made their way to a quick interview with XM Radio before taking lunch. The day concludes with break-out sessions with Kingsbury and all three players.
