This is the second-straight season where the Red Raiders have gone on the road to challenge a talented Denver squad. Tech delivered a 1-0 shutout over the Pioneers a year ago as Jessica Fuston provided the match's only goal with a header in the 27th minute.
"Denver always has a talented team and I know that will be the case Saturday night," Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "This will be a good test for our team but it'll also be nice for them to just play against someone other than their own teammates. Coach Hooker at Denver is as good as it gets so we have a lot of respect for their program."
Denver went on to finish 18-2-1 last season, claiming the Summitt League regular season and tournament titles before falling to Colorado, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA Championship. The Pioneers lost nine letterwinners, six of which that were starters, off that squad.
The Red Raiders, meanwhile, return the bulk of their roster that finished 18-2-3 overall last year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship for the second-consecutive season. Stone boasts 20 returning letterwinners, seven of which that were starters a year ago.
The match will be the only exhibition contest for the Red Raiders prior to opening the 2014 season on Aug. 22 against New Mexico.
