Kingsbury Signs Contract Extension

Texas Tech University and head football coach Kliff Kingsbury have reached an agreement that will extend his contract an additional three seasons, keeping him with the Red Raiders through 2020.
Kingsbury's original contract was a five-year deal signed in 2012 that would keep him at Texas Tech through 2017. The financial terms of the new contract call for a raise in salary in 2015 to $3.1 million.
"There has never been a more exciting time within our football program than now," Kirby Hocutt, Director of Athletics said. "I am very proud of the program Coach Kingsbury is building and I know our fans are as well. We can't wait to kick off the season tomorrow night at Jones AT&T Stadium and are looking forward to a bright future."
Kingsbury's agreement with the university comes the same day as a major announcement regarding the first university specific athletics capital campaign. The Campaign For Fearless Champions will impact all 17 sports on the Texas Tech campus with a major focus on the football program. Plans include the construction of a football indoor facility, a new south end zone stadium building and a renovation of the current football training facility.
"This is where I want to be and I couldn't be happier," Kingsbury said. "I can't wait to take this thing to the next level."
Along with Kingsbury, Texas Tech has reached extension agreements with head baseball coach Tim Tadlock and head track and field coach Wes Kittley. Tadlock and Kittley have signed extensions that will keep them on campus through 2019. Tadlock took the Red Raiders to their first College World Series in his second year as head coach while Wes Kittley claimed the Big 12 Conference Men's Outdoor Championship for the second time in his tenure at Texas Tech.
"My family and our coaching staff appreciate the support and commitment from Kirby (Hocutt), our athletics department administration, President Nellis, Chancellor Duncan and the Board of Regents," Tadlock said. "We are very excited about the future of Texas Tech Baseball."
"I've been here 15 years, and I'm starting on No. 16," Kittley said. "I don't think there's ever been a time in my coaching career where I've been more excited to get up in the morning. I'm just honored and humbled that Kirby Hocutt and Texas Tech University had the faith in me to immediately extend my contract. I've just never been more excited about where we are right now and what's to come at Texas Tech."
Tim Siegel, head men's tennis coach, has also signed a new four-year contract that will keep him in place through 2018. Siegel is Tech's longest tenured head coach in any sport at 23 years and has led the Red Raiders to 13 NCAA Tournaments.
"I am looking forward to being a part of Texas Tech for another four years," Siegel said. "I am excited as I have ever been. I love being a part of Texas Tech."
