Lady Raiders Travel to West Virginia

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team will take off for its second Big 12 Conference road game when it takes on West Virginia at 6 p.m. CT Wednesday at WVU Coliseum.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools. Tech and West Virginia traded season sweeps over the past two years since the Mountaineers joined the league in 2012. Each team has won and lost a game at each other's arena.
Tech (11-4, 1-2 Big 12) won its Big 12 Conference home opener on last week before losing its last two games to No. 16 Oklahoma State on the road and to Oklahoma on Saturday in Lubbock. The Lady Raiders are searching for their first road win since Feb. 24, 2013.
Senior guard Amber Battle has exploded for 42 points through her first three Big 12 games this season (14 points per game), including a season-high 23 points against the Sooners. She's scored in double figures in eight of her nine games played this season and now has 787 points in her career.
WVU (10-5, 0-3) comes into Wednesday's game on a three-game losing streak after facing Oklahoma (71-60, No. 3 Texas (61-55) and No. 6 Baylor (66-62) in its first three conference matchups. The Mountaineers are led by Big 12 Conference Preseason Player of the Year, Bria Holmes, who leads the conference in scoring at 22.1 points per game.

Texas Tech and West Virginia are meeting for just the fifth time in the series overall since their first meeting in 2013 when the Mountaineers joined the Big 12 Conference. The two have split the series 2-2 with each team going 1-1 at each arena.

Texas Tech senior Amber Battle Texas Tech senior guard Amber Battle scored a season-high 23 points on Saturday vs. Oklahoma. She finished 7 of 21 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, making 8 of 9 in the second half alone. Her previous season-high was 21 points against UTSA on Dec. 20.
STREAK SNAPPED
Texas Tech had a streak snapped for the third time in three games on Saturday. The Lady Raiders lost at home for the first time this season after winning 11 straight at United Supermarkets Arena. It was the first Tech loss since falling in the home finale last season against Texas on March 3.
PAINT GAME
Texas Tech lost the battle in the paint for the first time at home this season. Oklahoma outscored Tech 30-22 down low, although Tech did outrebound the Sooners 42-39. The Lady Raiders scored 21 points off 22 offensive rebounds (0.95 points per offensive board). Texas Tech has found success in the paint at home this season, outscoring opponents by an average of 26.8-19.5 down low.
