LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team and athletics department announced on Wednesday that Brielle Blaire has signed a valid financial aid agreement for the spring of 2016.
Blaire announced in late December she would transfer from Virginia Tech after playing in just four games during the fall 2014 semester of her freshman season. She scored 12 points and seven rebounds in 41 minutes of play.
"We are very excited about adding Brielle to our team next season," Tech head coach Candi Whitaker said. "She is an extremely versatile player who can create a lot offensively and help us on both ends of the court. I can't wait to see her in a Lady Raider uniform."
Blaire comes in after an impressive high school career. She was ranked a four-star recruit out of North Rowan High School by ESPN HoopGurlz and was also tabbed the 72nd best player overall and 20th ranked wing. She was ranked 51st nationally by Full Court and was an Elite Basketball Academy Super 64 camper.
The 6-2 freshman wing attended Salisbury High School for her first three varsity seasons where she earned All-State honors as a freshman and named the MVP of the state championship. She averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds during her career, with a career-high 36 points six different times, and was the county's leading scorer.
She also played volleyball, earning all-conference honors and was a member of the National Honors Society.
