Against No. 12 Oklahoma State on Saturday, Grant finished with a career-high 323 all-purpose yards (178 receiving, 146 kickoff return), which ranked as the fourth highest single-game total in Texas Tech history. He returned his school-record fourth career kickoff return for touchdown when he ran for a school-record tying 100-yard touchdown.
Grant also added a 90-yard reception in which he zig-zagged through the Oklahoma State defense. He finished the day with 178 yards receiving on a career-high 13 receptions and a touchdown. According to ESPN.com, his 210 first quarter all-purpose yards were the most for a player in a single quarter this year.
With his performance against the Cowboys, Grant moved up on several Texas Tech performance charts: fifth place in career receiving yards (2,973), fifth place on Texas Tech's career receptions list (234), sixth place in career all-purpose yards (5,010) and 11th place in season all-purpose yards (1,706). In addition, Grant needs just 110 yards to break the school's all-time career kick return yardage record.
Grant ranks among the national leaders in eight different statistical categories: fourth in all-purpose yards, ninth in receiving yards, 11th in receiving yards per game, 11th in receptions per game, 43rd in touchdown receptions, 2nd in combined kick return yards, 2nd in kick returns for touchdowns and 17th in kickoff return average.
Texas Tech (5-4, 2-4 Big 12) is back in action when it travels to West Virginia (3-4, 0-4 Big 12) on Saturday, Nov. 7. Kickoff is at 11 a.m. CT for a Fox Sports 1 national broadcast.
