LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech returns home in search of its third consecutive win in Big 12 Conference play when it takes on No. 3 Baylor at 7 p.m. Wednesday at United Supermarkets Arena.
This will be the 80th meeting overall between the two schools and 36th in the Hub City. Tech leads the overall series 47-32 and 25-10 at home while Baylor has won 17 of the last 18 meetings dating back to 2006.
Tech (15-10, 5-8 Big 12) has been in the business of ending streaks against other Big 12 teams thus far this season. The Lady Raiders won their second overtime game of the season on Sunday with a 74-68 decision against Kansas State in Manhattan to snap a four-game losing streak to the Wildcats. That came just three days after snapping a five-game losing streak to Iowa State for Tech's first back-to-back conference wins this season.
And the points aren't just coming from senior guard Amber Battle. Junior Rayven Brooks was nearly perfect on Sunday with a career-high 26 points on 9 of 11 shooting after posting 12 on Wednesday against the Cyclones. Overall, five different Lady Raiders have posted scores in double figures in the last week.
Baylor (24-1, 13-0) comes in tied with the nation's longest winning streak at 23 games along with No. 1 Connecticut. The Lady Bears are averaging 82 points per game - fifth-highest nationally - while holding teams to only 57.5 points per game. Baylor is led by five-time Big 12 Player of the Week Nina Davis, who leads the conference in scoring with 21.4 points per game.
