Bettiol hit a team-leading .769 (10-for-13) over the course of the weekend, helping lead the Red Raiders (9-6) to a 4-0 showing with wins over the likes of DePaul, a preseason top-25 team, as well as host UT Arlington.
The Nebraska transfer recorded at least two hits in three of Tech's four games with the only exception coming in a 12-0 rout of Prairie View A&M Saturday night. Bettiol finished 1-for-1 overall against the Panthers with a pair of walks and two stolen bases.
Bettiol totaled an impressive .813 on-base percentage to go along with an .846 slugging percentage over the four games. She also stole four bases and drove in four runs, two of which that came in a 9-1 run-rule of DePaul in the tournament opener Friday.
Her best performance, though, came later that evening when she notched a career high four hits in Tech's 10-6 come-from-behind victory over UT Arlington. It marked the most hits for a Red Raider this season.
Bettiol, native of College Station, Texas, has hit safely in 13 of 15 games so far in her first season as a Red Raider. She is among the Big 12 leaders with a .500 batting average that is the highest for any Red Raider though the first 15 games of a season dating back to 2007.
Bettiol will enter this weekend's Cowgirl Classic hosted by McNeese State as the conference leader in hits as she has totaled 24 through the first three weekends of the season. She leads the Red Raiders with seven multiple-hit games during that span as well.
Bettiol is the first Red Raider to be named the conference player of the week since Sydni Emanuel garnered the accolade on March 18 last year. This is the first career weekly award for Bettiol at either Texas Tech or Nebraska.
The Red Raiders open the Cowgirl Classic Friday afternoon with a doubleheader against Memphis and host McNeese State. Tech will face Memphis in a 3 p.m. first pitch before battling McNeese State in a 6 p.m. scheduled start.
