Tech Heads West For Wildcat Invitational

Texas Tech takes on Sewailo Golf Club on Monday in the Wildcat Invitational.

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The No. 39 Lady Raider golf team heads west to Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona for the Wildcat Invitational.
The 15-team tournament begins Monday morning with the first of two rounds that day and concludes Tuesday with the third and final round.
Joining Tech in the tournament: No. 1 USC, No. 8 Arizona, No. 14 UNLV, No. 20 Texas A&M, No. 46 Kansas, No. 47 Houston, No. 50 Campbell, Washington State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Long Beach State, Wisconsin, Idaho and Michigan.
This will be the first of three consecutive tournaments in three weeks for the Lady Raiders for the month of March. Tech has played only one tournament so far this spring, finishing sixth in California two weeks ago at the UC Irvine Invitational.
Kimmy Hill, who finished in a tie for seventh in California at even par, leads the squad once again heading into Monday's first round. Alongside Hill are Stephanie Bertelsen, Sarah Brown, Gabby Barker and Lauren Mason. Elin Arvidsson will play as an individual.
Brown and Bertelsen each finished in the top 30 in California and are just one-tenth of a stroke apart in this season's stroke average at 73.6 and 73.7, respectively. They are the only two players to play all six tournaments (18 rounds) since the fall began. Hill leads all players with a 73.0 stroke average in nine rounds played.
Fans can follow the team on BirdieFire.com beginning at 9:30 a.m., CT with the first groups off the tee. Tech will play alongside New Mexico State and Campbell beginning at 11 a.m. on the No. 10 tee.
