LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech football team will kickoff its spring scrimmage at 11 a.m., Saturday at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland.
Tech is making its annual trip to Midland for the third consecutive year. This is the first time the scrimmage will be televised from Grande Communications Stadium, due to the current seating upgrades going on inside Jones AT&T Stadium.
The scrimmage will be shown on FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Oklahoma and FOX Sports New Orleans, which combined reach over 10 million cable and satellite television homes in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. It will also be televised nationally on FOX College Sports Central.
Robert Giovannetti (play-by-play), Chris Level (analyst) and Courtney Davis (sideline reporter) will call the action on Texas Tech's spring scrimmage.
The scrimmage begins with individual drills followed by two, 15-minute quarters with planned drives pitting the offensive and defensive squads against each other. The second half will be a 30-minute running clock.
Admission to the scrimmage is free. Gates will open at 10 a.m. with events in Raider Alley and the Cimarex Energy Pavilion outside of the stadium on the west side that begin at 9 a.m. There will be inflatable games, live music, spirit squad members and the Masked Rider.
