LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech is one of 15 schools in the nation to feature both its men's and women's teams in the ITA Top 25 that was released Tuesday.
The Red Raiders climbed from No. 25 to No. 21, while the Lady Raiders vaulted from No. 23 to No. 18.
It is the highest ranking of the season for the Red Raiders (16-4, 0-0 Big 12) this season. The No. 21 mark is the highest ranking since Texas Tech was ranked No. 19 on Apr. 24, 2012 -- a span of 74 matches. The Red Raiders have been inside the Top 25 for three consecutive weeks.
Texas Tech has been ranked inside the Top 25 a total of 66 times since 2005 and inside the ITA Top 75 since March 12, 2002 -- a span of 347 consecutive matches. On the men's side, all six teams in the Big 12 Conference are ranked -- Oklahoma (No. 1), Baylor (No. 2), Texas (No. 9), TCU (No. 10), Texas Tech (No. 21) and Oklahoma State (No. 30).
For the Lady Raiders (14-4, 4-1 Big 12), Texas Tech climbed five spots after upsetting No. 11 Oklahoma State on Sunday. The Lady Raiders return inside the Top 20 after a one-week absence. Texas Tech has been in the Top 25 for seven straight weeks. The Lady Raiders have been ranked inside the ITA Top 75 for 95 consecutive matches, dating back to Feb. 7, 2011.
For the women, six of 10 teams are currently ranked in the ITA Top 75 -- Baylor (No. 7), Oklahoma State (No. 13), TCU (No. 17), Texas Tech (No. 18), Texas (No. 29) and Oklahoma (No. 32).
The Red Raiders return to action on Thursday when they open Big 12 play in Fort Worth, when Texas Tech takes on No. 10 TCU. The Red Raiders then travel to Austin to face No. 9 Texas on Saturday. The Lady Raiders host league-leading No. 7 Baylor (19-4, 5-0 Big 12) at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
