LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech women's basketball head coach Candi Whitaker announced the addition of Texas A&M's Jada Terry to the 2015-16 roster.
"Jada is a very talented post player that provides a much-needed inside presence," Whitaker said. "Her pro frame and ability to finish at a high percentage will be an immediate impact when she hits the court. We could not be happier she chose to be a Lady Raider."
Terry is the third transfer in the last week. She joins Indiana transfers Larryn Brooks and Taylor Agler.
The 6-foot-3 center played 455 minutes in 53 games for the Aggies the last two seasons while scoring 144 points and grabbing 72 rebounds. Terry also had 25 blocks and was a .685 shooter from the field (63 of 92). She started 11 games last season as a sophomore and hit .746 from the field (53 of 71).
Ranked as the eighth-best post player in the nation and the 56th-best player overall by ESPN HoopGurlz, Terry was called "the top 2013 post player in the state of Texas" and "should be in the national conversation" by Simmie Colson of Girls Prep Report. She was named the fourth-best high school player in the DFW area by the Dallas Morning News during 2012-13 and averaged 13.7 points and 7.3 rebounds as a senior to help Cedar Hill to the Regional Quarterfinals and a 26-11 record.
Terry was the No. 10 center and No. 58 player overall out of high school by Dan Olson's Collegiate Girls Basketball Report after she was named All-State by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and All-District 7-5A her senior year.
She chose Texas Tech over Oklahoma State and Houston. Terry will sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
