LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech soccer signee Kate Summers was named the National High School Player of the Week on Wednesday by the website TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Summers, a senior defender from Highland Park High School in the Dallas area, connected on three goals last weekend to help lead the Scots to the state tournament for the third time in her career.
One of 13 members of Tech's 2015 signing class, Summers inked her National Letter of Intent to attend Tech this past February. She is one of six signees hailing from the state of Texas to be rated a three or four-star prospect by Top Drawer Soccer.
Summers will join a Texas Tech program next fall that is coming off its first Sweet 16 appearance in school history. The Red Raiders closed the 2014 campaign ranked 14th nationally with a 16-4-2 overall record.
