LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech women's basketball head coach Candi Whitaker announced this past week that the Lady Raiders have added guard Taylor Agler to the 2015-16 roster.
"So excited to have a player of Taylor's caliber joining our team," Whitaker said. "She's an outstanding guard who understands the game at a high level. She will be instrumental in growing the program."
The 5-9 sophomore guard played in 29 games with 15 starts, averaging 17.5 minutes per game. She averaged 3.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists for the Hoosiers. Agler scored a season-high 17 points including an 11-0 run by herself in the season opener against Gardner-Webb and had seven games with three or more assists.
The Westerville, Ohio native played and started in all 34 games as a freshman in 2013-14 and averaged 7.8 points per game and led the team in steals with 1.1 per game. Agler was second on the team in assists with 65 and hit 49 threes -- the second-most made by a freshman in school history.
Agler played high school basketball at Olentangy Orange where she left as the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,265 points and all-time leader in assists with 657. She was a second team all-state and first team all-district selection her senior year while being named the conference player of the year.
Agler's father, Brian, is the head coach of the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. He spent the last six seasons as the head coach of the Seattle Storm.
Taylor Agler will sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
