LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech women's basketball head coach Candi Whitaker announced the addition of Indiana's Larryn Brooks to the 2015-16 roster.
"Larryn has proven herself at a high level and brings a great deal of experience with her to Texas Tech," Whitaker said. "She is a dynamic guard that can score and distribute. We are thrilled Larryn is a Lady Raider."
The 5-foot-5 sophomore guard also visited Kentucky before eventually deciding to join Indiana teammate Taylor Agler on the Lady Raider roster. Brooks led the Hoosiers in scoring the last two seasons with 14.3 points per game and became the first Indiana freshman to score more than 500 points in a season in 2013-14. She has already accumulated 912 points in just 64 games played.
Brooks displayed her range from the field during her freshman campaign, hitting 67 of 177 threes (37.9 percent) -- the fourth-most 3-pointers made in a single season at Indiana. She also ranks third all-time in assists in a single season with 154 (4.5 per game) and has 70 steals.
The Richmond, Kentucky native was the No. 38 ranked guard out of high school and 158th overall player in the nation in 2013, according to Dan Olson's Collegiate Girls Basketball Report. Brooks averaged 20 points, four assists and four steals per game her senior year at Madison Central High School while leading her team to a 29-5 record and regional title. She was the Region 11 player of the year and first team all-state selection.
Brooks will sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
