LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team was invited to make a special visit to the State Capitol in Austin Friday morning where head coach Tim Tadlock and Red Raider coaches, staff and student-athletes were recognized by the Texas House of Representatives.
State Representative Dustin Burrows filed House Resolution 1956 honoring Coach Tadlock and the Red Raiders for the program's historic run to the 2014 College World Series in Omaha - the first appearance at the CWS in school history.
Tech was hosted by State Representatives Dustin Burrows, John Frullo and State Senator Charles Perry, all of Lubbock. The team was also greeted by former Red Raider pitcher, State Representative Phil Stephenson, from Wharton. Stephenson was Tech's starting pitcher in the Red Raiders' first-ever Southwest Conference game in 1968 at Texas on March 22. In addition, Stephenson's 2.00 ERA in 1967 remains ninth in school history.
After the Red Raiders were recognized on the house floor, the team spent time visiting with Senator Perry in the senate chamber where the team took a photograph with Senator Perry.
