LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head men's golf coach Greg Sands officially announced the signing of Ivan Ramirez (Bucaramanga, Colombia) to a national letter of intent on Thursday morning.
The Colombian native brings a wealth of talent and experience to Texas Tech. Currently, Ramirez is ranked the No. 9 junior player in the world. He has captured 15 first-place finishes throughout his career including the South American Junior Championship, the International South American Junior Golf title and is a five-time Colombian champion.
"We're excited to add an elite golfer like Ivan to our roster," Coach Sands said. "All these guys in this year's class will play a major role in the future of this program. We can't wait to get them on campus next fall."
Ramirez joins three others in this year's class set to arrive in August: Johnny Jones (Byron Nelson High School/Flower Mound, Texas), Hayden Springer (Byron Nelson High School, Trophy Club, Texas) and Jordan Sanders (Cedar Park High School, Cedar Park, Texas).
The ninth-ranked Red Raiders begin postseason play on May 14 as a 2-seed in the NCAA Regional to be held at the Rawls Golf Course in Lubbock, Texas. For more information on the tournament, visit TexasTech.com.
