Lady Raiders Announce Addition Of Recee' Caldwell

Recee' Caldwell comes to Tech from UCLA, where she averaged 6.9 points per game as a freshman.

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech head women's basketball coach Candi Whitaker announced on Wednesday the addition of Recee' Caldwell to the 2015-16 roster.

"She is a super skilled guard with a high basketball IQ who can create offense for herself as well as facilitate for others. Her work ethic and leadership ability fit perfectly into our team culture. Recee' will help us continue to build on the winning tradition that is Lady Raider Basketball.
Caldwell was ranked as one of the Top 10 players in the country by recruiting services including No. 6 by Prospects Nation, No. 7 by PB Media, and No. 9 by ESPN's HoopGurlz. She was also ranked as the No. 2 rated PG by PB Media, the No. 3 rated PG by HoopGurlz and Prospects Nation and the No. 5 PG by Full Court.
She earned a spot in the 2014 McDonald's All-American game after her senior year at FEAST (homeschool), where she averaged 20.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 3.4 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in 2013-14 to lead the Patriots to a 31-6 overall record.
She also represented Team USA on two different occasions--once on the U-16 team, and once on the U-18 squad, bringing home gold after both stints.
A transfer from UCLA, Caldwell had a successful freshman campaign for the Bruins, appearing in 17 games and averaging 6.9 points, 2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Her most complete performance of the season was a 17-point outburst in a 59-52 win at USC on Dec. 30, a game in which she also collected four boards and dished out three assists.
Recee' is the daughter of Ray and Alba Caldwell , and has one younger sister, Desiree. While she is from San Antonio, Texas, and played club basketball for San Antonio's Finest, Caldwell grew up in Riverside, Calif. She will sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
