LUBBOCK, Texas - Wearing helmets and shorts, the Texas Tech football program opened its 2015 training camp on Thursday afternoon with a two-hour practice at the TTU Football Training Facility.
Thursday's practice began a series of 28 practices for Texas Tech as it prepares for its season opener against Sam Houston State on Saturday, Sept. 5. Kickoff for Texas Tech's 1,000th all-time game is at 2:30 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Net.
"It was a good practice," Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. "No pads today, we flew around and got a lot accomplished. We had a great attitude and good leadership toward work this summer, but we have to work our way back into football shape."
Players reported for camp on Wednesday. The coaches and players went through media day on Tuesday. All practices are closed to the public.
In other news, United Supermarkets and Texas Tech Athletics have partnered to offer $15 tickets for the Red Raiders' season opener against Sam Houston State presented by Texas Tech Federal Credit Union on Saturday, Sept. 5. The $15 tickets are available in select areas at Jones AT&T Stadium. Tech's season opener marks its 1,000th football game in school history.
Single game tickets for all contests went on sale to the general public on August 3. Season tickets are also still on sale and can be purchased by calling 806-742-TECH or by visiting www.texastech.com.
