Fans may tune into one of the 44 region-wide affiliates of the Texas Tech Radio Network. Brian Jensen returns to the broadcast booth as play-by-play announcer for his 16th consecutive season and is joined by veteran John Harris, who will be in his 33rd year of providing analysis. In his sixth season, Chris Level rounds out the crew as sideline reporter.
For the first time in school history, Texas Tech will face two nationally ranked top-5 teams in back-to-back weeks (No. 3 TCU and No. 4 Baylor). Texas Tech is 1-8 all-time vs. the nation's No. 4 ranked teams. Its lone victory vs. a No. 4 ranked team was against West Virginia on Oct. 13, 2012 (49-14 win at Jones AT&T Stadium). The last time Tech faced two top-10 ranked opponents in back-to-back weeks was in 2008 when it hosted both No. 1 Texas (39-33 win on Nov. 1) and No. 8 Oklahoma State (56-20 win on Nov. 8). Texas Tech is the nation's only program to face two top-five nationally ranked opponents in its first five games of the 2015 season.
Texas Tech (3-1, 0-1 Big 12) plays its second Big 12 game of the year and plays its 1,004th all-time football game as the Red Raiders own a 547-424-32 all-time football record in 91 total seasons. The Red Raiders have accumulated 55 winning seasons and advanced to 36 bowl games. Last year, Texas Tech finished a disappointing 4-8 overall and 2-7 in the Big 12 Conference. The sub-.500 season marked Texas Tech's only second sub-.500 season in the last 22 years. A Texas Tech win on Saturday would match the Red Raiders' victory total from last season.
The Texas Tech-Baylor matchup features two of the nation's most exciting and big-play offenses. Both schools rank among the nation's top-10 team statistics in total offense (1-Baylor, 767.0, 5-Texas Tech, 594.5), passing offense (7-Baylor, 387.3, 5-Texas Tech, 397.3) and scoring offense (1-Baylor, 64.0, 3-Texas Tech, 53.8). The two schools also rank No. 1-2 nationally in most plays from scrimmage totaling both 40 and 30 yards.
Baylor (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) enters its game against Texas Tech after defeating Rice 70-17 last weekend. Baylor was picked by Big 12 coaches to finished second in the league in 2015. The Bears are coached by 1979 Texas Tech graduate and former Red Raider assistant coach Art Briles (2000-02).
