Caldwell kicked off the 2016 season with a bang, finishing first in both the prelims and the final of the 60-meter hurdles in Fayetteville, charging down the track to a time of 7.75 seconds to claim the victory. His mark sits atop the Big 12 leaderboard this season, ranks second in the NCAA and eighth in the world.
"Great start for Chris with his first meet running with seven steps to the first hurdle," head coach Wes Kittley said. "Look for big things in the weeks to come."
His first-place finish also continued a streak of earning first or second in every hurdle-final he's competed in indoor's during his time at Texas Tech.
Caldwell and the Red Raiders head to College Station to take on Texas A&M, Arizona State and Oklahoma at the Texas A&M Quadrangular on Saturday, Jan. 23.
