COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Lady Raider Basketball continued their preseason training with a closed practice and scrimmage against Oregon State last weekend at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Lady Raiders began the day at the facility with an offensive and defensive practice with the Beavers. After lunch at the training center and a brief break, the two teams returned to the court for a regulation scrimmage.
"Our weekend in Colorado Springs was a great start to our journey this season. It gave us an early opportunity to play a very talented Oregon State team on the road," Head Coach Candi Whitaker said. "We challenged ourselves against a veteran team who knows how to win. We had some very good things come out of the time spent at the Olympic Training Center and learned a lot about ourselves in the process.Â
"We will spend time in the film room this week, learning from the good and the bad, to help us grow and prepare for Big 12 play. We have to continue to challenge ourselves and compete at a high level to realize the goals that we have set for ourselves this season."
The Lady Raiders open the 2016-17 season with an exhibition game against Midwestern State on Sunday. Tip is set for 2 p.m. Texas Tech begins regular season play on Sunday, Nov. 13, when the Lady Raiders host North Dakota for a 2 p.m. tip.
