LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball head coach Candi Whitaker announced registration is open for the 2016 Lady Raider Basketball Camps.
Spanning June 5-18, the Lady Raiders will host four basketball camps aimed at the development of young players. There will be a Skills camp (June 5-8), Day Camp (June 6-8), Team Camp (June 9-10) and Elite Camp (June 17-18). The camps are open to all entrants limited only by numbers, grade level and gender.
"My staff and I are looking forward to hosting the 2016 Lady Raider Basketball Camps here on the campus of Texas Tech University," Whitaker said. "Our campers will have an opportunity to develop and improve their game with the help of our staff and current Lady Raider players, in a great basketball environment. It is the goal of our staff and players to create a memorable and productive experience for all of our campers."
Skills Camp, open to girls in grades 3-12, is designed to help players of all skill levels improve their game through fundamental work on offensive and defensive basics including ball handling, shooting, defense, and rebounding. Along with developing solid individual fundamental skills, each camper will participate in individual competitions as well as team competitions. Each camper will receive instruction from the best high school coaches in the country as well as college coaches and college players. Each camper will learn in a positive and fun environment.
Day Camp, open to girls in kindergarten through third grade, aims at developing and teaching basketball skills in a fun and inviting atmosphere. The camp will emphasize fundamental basketball and overall player development. Camp will include basic skill stations, 5 on 5 competitions, individual competitions and more. This camp is a perfect camp to develop a young player's skills in a low-pressure environment. Camp coaches will be the current Lady Raider team and staff.
Team Camp, which will feature both Varsity and JV divisions, will feature five guaranteed games for each team, officiated by UIL referees.
Elite Camp, open to girls in grades 8-12, is a high intensity camp that provides valuable experience through rigorous competition and direct insight from the best coaches and players in the country on offensive position skill work and individual defense techniques. Highlights include specialized individual instruction involving aspects of the game that are keys to successful guard and post play. This camp is designed for those passionate players wanting to learn how to improve and take their game to the next level. The camp is open to any and all entrants who meet the grade level requirement.
