Texas Tech-Kansas Football Game Moved to Thursday, Sept. 29

Texas Tech's game at Jones AT&T Stadium against Kansas has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 29.
DALLAS, Texas --The Big 12 Conference and television partners ESPN and FOX announced that Texas Tech's football game against Kansas at Jones AT&T Stadium has been moved to Thursday, September 29. A kickoff time and television designation will be announced at a later date.
The change was made at the request of the Big 12 and its league television partners ESPN and FOX. As part of the Big 12 Conference television package, four games are required to be played on non-traditional days each season. ESPN and FOX each receive two selections per year and finalize their choices by a June 1 deadline. Conferences often do not include the non-traditional game dates in the original schedule as networks attempt to piece together the national landscape in formulating the Thursday and special date schedules.
As its 2016 Big 12 Conference opener, Texas Tech's game against Kansas was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 1. Texas Tech holds a 16-1 all-time record and has won nine consecutive games against Kansas. The Red Raiders own a 5-1 all-time record vs. the Jayhawks in Lubbock.
Texas Tech last hosted a Thursday night game at Jones AT&T Stadium on Sept. 12, 2013, a 20-10 victory over TCU.
Texas Tech football season ticket renewals were sent to all Red Raider fans last week. The renewal deadline is February 29.
