HOWEY IN THE HILLS, Fla. -- After 36 holes on Saturday, the Texas Tech men's golf team sits in second place at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, in Howey In The Hills, Fla.
In round one, the Red Raiders got solid performances from Henry Todd (E), Ivan Ramirez (1-over) and Federico Zucchetti (1-over) on their way to a 7-over 295, seven shots off the lead. Todd, Ramirez and Zucchetti each birdied No. 7, where the Red Raiders logged six birdies on the day.
From there, the tide turned in round two. Every Red Raider posted a lower score in round two than what they carded in round one, save Todd, who followed up his first-round 72 with a 1-over 73 in round two, and sits in 12th place as an individual.
Hannes Ronneblad fired a 4-over 76, improving on his round one score by six shots, Wes Artac registered a 2-over 74, improving by three shots and Ivan Ramirez recorded a 72, dropping his score by a stroke from round one. Ramirez is tied with Todd for 12th as an individual.

However, it was Zucchetti who stole the show. He rattled off six birdies compared to just one bogey, on his way to a 5-under 67, his best round as a Red Raider. That round vaulted him into sole possession of fourth place (-4) heading into tomorrow's final round.
Once the dust settled, the Red Raiders had a 2-under 286 in round two-the second-lowest team round of the day-and had moved into sole possession of second place, trailing just South Florida (-8).
"It's always a challenge to play 36 holes on a day, basically squeezing two rounds into one," Texas Tech head coach Greg Sands said. "I thought our guys responded really well, though, after not having the best start. Our scores across the board improved in round two, especially Federico [Zucchetti] giving us that 67. That's huge moving into tomorrow, where we are within striking distance. I'm excited to see how our guys close tomorrow."
Playing as an individual, Hurly Long went 77-73, and is 6-over for the tournament, tied for 33rd place.
Hosted at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort, this 54-hole event will finish up with a final round of 18 on Sunday, beginning with a shotgun start at 7:15 a.m. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
