IRVING, Texas - Texas Tech Lady Raiders Japreece Dean and Ivonne CookTaylor earned All-Big 12 honors on Wednesday, based on a vote by the conference's coaches.
Dean was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team after leading conference freshmen in points per game (11.8), assists (3.2), free throw percentage (among qualifiers, .804) and assist to turnover ratio. Dean scored in double figures 20 times this season, and in nine of those she scored 17 or more. She also recorded five or more assists on five different occasions.

Dean was a prime candidate to be named Big 12 Freshman of the Year, but was edged out by West Virginia's Tynice Martin, who averaged 9.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 38.7% from the field off the bench for the Mountaineers.
CookTaylor was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention, after a season in which she led the Lady Raiders in scoring (14.2 ppg), and was second in rebounding (5.1 rpg). She was one of five Big 12 guards to rank in the league's top 20 in points and rebounds.
She equaled Dean with 20 double figure-scoring games, hit the 20-point mark seven times, was Tech's leading scorer in 12 different games and was the team's leading rebounder on nine different occasions.
Dean is the second Lady Raider to be named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, joining Kierra Mallard (2009). This is the first All-Big 12 honor for both Dean and CookTaylor.
Tech (12-17, 3-15) will enter this weekend's Big 12 Tournament as the No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 seed Iowa State (13-16, 5-13) in the tournament's opening game on Friday, at 6 p.m., in Oklahoma City.
